Donkervoort has finally unveiled the new generation Donkervoort D8 GTO sports car after two and a half years of development. The Donkervoort D8 GTO was created in close collaboration with Audi with the four rings brand providing the engine for this new version, a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder TFSI unit tuned at 400 HP and 450 Nm of torque. A weight that comes courtesy of a steel-tube frame is a one-piece door that swings up and wrapped in carbon panels, Lamborghini-style. Donkervoort D8 GTO weight 700 kg and manufacturers say this is one of the fastest sports cars in the European market. We tend to believe that taking into account half of the first 25 GTO sold specifically designed just for our first preview of the private car. The best evidence, however, no performance figures up to 100 km / h (0-62 mph) in 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 250 km / h.
The Donkervoort D8 GTO features a steel tubular frame covered with wider than the previous model, apart from being slightly longer and large carbon composite panels. The car has also received a revised undercarriage, a front axle equipped with a newly designed rear axle and a new anti-roll bar.
The Donkervoort D8 GTO price will be between 100,000 Euro and 150,000 Euro (including taxes), with production scheduled to begin in 2012. The first ‘regular’ version will be seen on the European roads in 2013.
