4 women, all mothers, die in W. Side crash

May 13, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Four women were killed in a high-speed accident on the city's West Side, leaving four separate families in mourning.

The accident happened in the 4800 block of W. Lake near the Cicero Green Line station.

Some broken glass is all that is left of a horrific crash that claimed the lives of Alicia Goston, Bernadette Harris, Ieshia Nelson and Tyshyra Hines, four close friends out on a Saturday night.

"They were going to a party and someone called and said they cancelled the party and they were turning around to come back home," said Anthony Hines, Tyshyra Hines' father.

Navigating Lake St. under the El tracks at what police are calling a high rate of speed, the four women were killed when their car ran into a light pole after hitting the CTA column.

Surveillance video from a nearby business caught some of the accident on camera. Neighbors heard the crash and immediately ran outside only to see a car split in two.

All four victims were mothers and 21-year-old Gotson's family returned to the crash scene today looking for answers.

"She's a great girl and an even better mother and I loved her," Gotson's father, Willie Kirkland, said.

The timing of the accident was too much for Tysyrya's Hines family to understand.

"It's a sad day today," said Chante Bivens. "It's Mothers Day and my sister was taken from me."

"She was a very kind person a very generous person she showed a lot of love and protection," said Jean Bivens.

Besides being mothers to young children, all four women worked jobs to support their kids and all lived close to each other on the city's West Side.

The families of the women are anxious for police to give them give more information about the cause of the accident once an investigation is complete.
